Common problems met last week - we will continue this thread

In the last 2 weeks we have had several GTVs, followed by the same number of 147s. We regularly meet the same problems and wondered if our readers would find it useful to see what they are.

GTVs - problems with the air intake pipe between the airflow meter and the throttle body splitting. This causes poor running and high fuel consumption.

147s and GTs - suffering from breakage of the front wiper motor linkage.  Be careful not to switch on the wipers if the windscreen is iced over!

147s GTs and 156s - splitting handbrake cables. The angle where the outer cable meets the caliper is tortuous ( See Photo) . Again, be careful in icy weather as water gets into the cable, freezes and makes the brake stick on. If you can, don't use the handbrake overnight.
